WATERSMEET – The Watersmeet community members held a walked yesterday to encourage Indigenous people to vote in the upcoming election.  We the People MI hosted the Get Out the Native Vote awareness walk. Participants learned about what’s on the ballot and how to register to vote.  Organizers say with Michigan being a swing state it’s even more important for Native people to vote in the November election to ensure treaty rights, tribal sovereignty, tribal languages and culture are protected.
