MICHIGAN - Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced yesterday that tuition will be free at community colleges for those who graduate from Michigan high schools this year.

Students can earn their associate’s degree or skills certificate from an in-district community college at no charge, saving students almost $5,000 a year. Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist said education is the greatest engine for economic and personal advancement. The new school aid budget is delivered on the Michigan Guarantee, making two years of community college or skills training an achievable goal for more students.
