MINOCQUA - An appeal by Minocqua Brewing Company and its owner, Kirk Bangstad has been denied by a state court. Bangstad had asked the court to delay payment of two monetary judgements, totaling just under $1.1 million dollars. The judgements were levied after an Oneida County jury found Bangstad and his company guilty of defamation, awarding the Lakeland times publisher Gregg Walker what is thought to be the biggest defamation judgement in state history. The denial of appeal means Bangstad must pay the judgements, although he is expected to appeal to the state Supreme Court.

ATLANTA (AP) — Democrats are pumping $25 million into expanded voter outreach across 10 states including Michigan and Wisconsin as part of their effort to protect their narrow Senate majority. The new spending from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, first shared with The Associated Press, comes less than two months until the Nov. 5 election. It also comes as Democrats benefit from a fundraising surge since President Joe Biden ended his reelection bid and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.
